The great thing about being a wirless presenter is that you can imagine everyone laughing even when they’re not. It makes your life one big high.

Some of the finest comedians began their careers on the wirless, not as presenters but as sketch show performers. Such comedians as Morcambe and Wise, Bob Hope, and one of the greatest comedians of all time Jack Benny.

ABOUT TOM BRIGHT

Blackpool based Tom Bright is an all round entertainer, enjoying the crazy World of Show business for many years.

Tom Bright’s first national success came not as an actor or comedian on stage, but as a song writer …Tom wrote and performed the ‘Tiswas song’ for the outrageous Chris Tarrant show, and from there he went on to write many television and film themes. But his real love is the stage. From the age of thirteen Tom Bright learned his trade in the clubs working up and down the country as a singer, and then expanding into comedy.

However, when Blackpool actor Tom Bright was asked to star and write a sixteen week TV series with Mike Reid famous for his Frank character in Eastenders, he left the stage for a television studio.Tom Bright soon became a well respected TV personality at ITV but it wasn’t to last long. He received a phone call from rivals the BBC asking him to join Russ Abbot for a TV series. He spent six very happy years as an actor at the BBC on the Russ Abbot Madhouse.

As soon as Blackpool comedian Tom Bright left the BBC, he was asked if he would like to present a Sunday peak time show on Radio. Seven months later he was awarded ‘The Golden Sony award’

Blackpool comedian, actor, compere, presenter Tom Bright’s Pantomime career also spans over many years, including writing and directing, and of course performing.

His latest adventure is “Legends” where he has comedy compered this award winning show for the past seven years and has been asked to join the show yet again in 2011.

His stand-up act has also spanned many years, from the early club days from TV, theatre, and major venues and cruises throughout the World.

“Every day is an adventure” says Tom … “I don’t have a job … I’m an entertainer”
